![]() I find them to be exceptional performance wise and the scents are on another level from any other soap I've tried. It's exceptionally well done and the weight is perfect to offset the heavier razor head.Ībout the soap - I'm a huge fan of the PannaCrema Nuavia soaps. The Barbershop handle is the only one in this kit and I prefer it to the Timeless Pineapple handle that I own as well. There are no rough edges on this plate and no scratch feel that is sometimes present with open comb plates. I am really impressed with it as it's by far the smoothest open comb base plate I've ever used. Some others will surely like the ridged one as it definitely is appealing as well. I could get similar results from both but I prefer the look of the smooth cap. For me the caps are more of an aesthetic thing. You can argue that the smooth cap would be smoother on your face or that the ridges in the ridged cap will allow more soap for it to glide on but honestly I'm not really shaving with the cap. Trying several new items at once is a sure way to get inconsistent results.Ībout the razor - I've tried both the ridged cap as well as the smooth cap and honestly I cannot tell a big difference between them performance wise. These are the products that I normally use so I am familiar with them. I've picked some of my favorite items and products and will continue to do so throughout these reviews. 68 plates exclusively for a month or two, which is why I'm starting with the. 95 Open Comb Base Plate, Smooth Cap, Barbershop handleīrush: Wolf Whiskers w/Shavemac 24 mm 2 band Silvertipīlade: Feather (about 4 shaves on it - I think) So to get this started today's shave was: If I had to rank them in terms of how often I use them and how much I enjoy them, I have to say these are my top three: Unfortunately, the ones that seem to carry the really high resale prices are some of my favorites and I know if I let them go I won't ever get another. Fortunately for me I didn't pay anywhere near that and my wife has no idea what they are worth. If I were to put them all on the popular auction site for top dollar I'd probably fall somewhere between three and four times your estimate all said and done and they'd likely be gone in a week to people that want one bad enough. Some of the razors in the picture are flat out unavailable (Wolfman and BBS-1) and if you are fortunate to get on the waiting list then you're signing up for a one to two year wait. It's crazy if you ask me but I guess it's a supply and demand thing. The prices of some of those razors have gotten pretty high on the secondary market. And The Karve is supposed to be just an overall great razor.Yeah, thanks. ![]() Apparently the head design & positiveīlade exposure make it much more efficient/aggressive than one would think. 38mm blade gap but it means nothing on that razor. I've read that the Timeless Bronze has a. I know the Timeless is different than the Karve so what would make you choose one over the other (price aside)? 72, #2 is the Lupo aluminum and #3 is the Pearl Flexi! So far the #1 by a long mile is the Lupo. With that I get a DFS all the time with most razor/blade combos. I'm not an ATG shaver, just WTG and XTG with 2 passes total. I obviously like smooth but also some aggressiveness & some blade feel in my daily shaves. ![]() (I want a razor with a metal like Brass or Bronze look) ![]() So right now I'm researching between the Timeless Bronze or the Karve CB Brass (C or D) plates. This has all been acquired in a period of about 5 months!Īnd my goal is more and progressively looking at the upper echelon of razors! So far I have or (had) Merkur 23C, 33C, Futur (sold), Parker 97R, Variant (sold), The "Winning" razor, Pearl Flexi, Razorock Lupo aluminum and Lupo. So those 2 brands have been perfect in performance, scent & cost for me! I've even dialed down my blades to Bic, Feather and sometimes Astor Green + my brushes to Razorock Plissoft & Simpsons Trafalgar's. I'm picky with scents (I like straight up scents like Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Lavender etc.). I'm not a software guy, I've found that I'm happy with the soaps that I have and have dialed it down to TOBS & Proraso. If anyone has followed my DE journey since I started, you'll notice that most of my purchases have been hardware.
